The Dangers and Wastefulness of Plastic Packaging

How many times have you bought something (toys, electronics, whatever) and found the packaging to be downright frustrating?

All the molded plastic cases, twist ties, rubber bands, and more plastic inside take forever to open. The resulting sharp edges often result in cuts and scrapes. And the garbage that is generated is mindboggling.

I found this video at Two Knives, and it is time that we took a stand against excessive product packaging.

This holiday season, consider how something is packaged before you buy. And if you must get it anyway, commit to send an email, at the very least, to the manufacturer and complain about their wasteful, consumer UNfriendly practices.

Hi - I once heard Ellen Degeneris make a joke about this on her show that I alwasy remember when I’m trying to open the crazy plastic packaging today. She said something like ‘what’s with this packaging. I need a pair of scissors just to open a package with scissors in it.’ I thought that was funny.

BTW - I saw that you zoomed my recent post. I had not heard of that site before…thanks for zooming me. I haven’t been able to stop by in a while and it looks like you are doing well!
