Keeping a Baby Food Journal

Introducing solids to an infant is a tricky business.

Today I had the honor of writing a guest post on Aruni’s excellent blog – entrepreMusings. Many of you know that my children are affected by food allergies, so when it came time to introduce foods our stress and uncertainty levels were high. Click on over to entrepreMusings to see how keeping a baby food journal made this milestone in our children’s lives a more pleasurable experience. Also, for some good parenting advice on what to feed your infant check out the Baby Food and Drink Guide.

For those of you who don’t know Aruni Gunasegaram, she is the co-founder and CEO of Babble Soft – makers of the useful Baby Insights Web and Mobile and Baby Say Cheese software. New parents often find that a new baby can turn their once organized life into chaos. Baby Insights Web and Mobile software brings order back into the home.

An entrepreneur at heart, Aruni approaches parenting much like a new venture:

I believe the most valuable thing we can contribute to our society are children who are able to positively contribute to the world. When I talk to people about my entrepreneurial career, I say I’m on my 4th venture with two being each of my kids. So currently, I’m responsible for the well-being of 3 ventures!

So, according to Aruni, I am juggling four ventures of my own!

I enjoyed your article on the food journal. What are your kids allergic too? My daughter is allergic to corn and all corn by products (starch, syrup, vinegar, etc). It took us over a year to figure out it wasn’t dairy and soy but corn fed dairy and corn by products with the soy. It was actually keeping mental track of her food that finally solved what was wrong and why she still sometimes got sick.

What a great information I so wish that when mine were little I thought to do something like this. Luckly we do not have any allergies or anything like that however this would have still been a big help :)

I’m now 19 and experiencing being a dad. I must say although it feels good it’s still hard. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but to be honest, the hard part is having to balance time. My daughter is great and makes managing her never dreadful. -Teen dad
