MacBook Air from an Apple Mom
Posted by Neena on 01/16/08 in Technology
For the uninitiated future Applers out there, MacWorld is the annual conference where Steve Jobs introduces all the Apple goodies that they have been working on all year long.
This year did not disappoint. The new innovation of the year - MacBook Air. This computer is billed as “the World’s Thinnest Laptop”. And thin it is. There is even a video showing how the computer fits into one of those standard sized manilla interoffice type envelopes. Weighing somewhere around three pounds this is a business traveller’s dream.
Of course, a few things had to be sacrificed to make such a thin computer. The glaring omission to me is the lack of a cd/dvd drive. Apple thinks of everything, and created a way for the MacBook Air to wirelessly connect to the dvd drive of another computer, but even though in theory it is ultra cool, in practice it is more inconvenient than just popping the disk into your own computer.
But then you wouldn’t own “the World’s Thinnest Laptop”, would you?
More Apple-ish thoughts and parenting tips for all you techy parents tomorrow.

Yeah for Apple! My youngest was raised on Apples! At the age of three, he was excelling on computers because there was no *insert other computer name* hassles to deal with.
Today he can make a movie, create music, have his own photo library and more…
Apple ruleth.

mannequin,
I must agree! I switched to Apple and never looked back. My kids are still using Windows (shudder) but I hope to switch them over to Apple as soon as I can.
