Jeff ~
I am not sure what that lightening bolt means. It sure sounds like a battery issue. I am sure if you email customer service at Hasbro they will be able to get to the bottom of it.

My daughter's pen has a lightening bolt in front of a pet, and she can't do anything. Can anyone tell me what that means (is that a signal that it needs a new battery?)

Terry,

Is your clock set properly? Don't forget it's in military time. If the am and pm is messed up that would cause problems with unlocking the additional games. Hope that helps.

OK -

So we have been playing with the pen for a couple of weeks with no problems, other than unlocking the games. We follow the schedules for feeding to a tee and regularly groom, clean up after, and do everything else we are supposed to do. Afer two weeks of doing this perfectly every day, I finally reset the pen and started over again - still no luck unlocking additional games.

Anyone else having the same problems?

Any ideas?

Me too but with this explanantion I worked it out so thanks very much for that.

1. Get a pin and press the reset button at the back above the battery.

2. Now you get to set the time. How? The clue to it all is that the body of the pen can twist up and down (back and forward) and this is the actual control for everything.

3. So twist to increment the Hour setting. When you have it I think you press (click) the top of the pen which is the pet and it will move on to the Minute and then Seconds.

4. Once you set the time, it becomes active and shows you a fork and spoon to feed the pet. Again twisting the pen up or down controls the action. Tell your child that and they'll work out the rest.

5. Print the rules above about feeding the pet on time and the fact there are 3 hidden games and let them read that too.

6. Then as I said, let your child work out the rest. Remember the clue is all in the twisting.
