Drinking Straws

How to Clean Drinking Straws

How many times have you tossed one of your kids favorite drinking straws because their was an unknown something growing inside?

Or even worse, the straws that come with reusable sippy cups and Thermos containers because they sat, well, just a wee bit too long?

Of all parenting tips, this one is so obvious, it just makes me want to hit my head against a wall for not thinking of it myself.

Two words:

Pipe Cleaners

Yep, those colorful crafty things that kids love to use. Perfect for cleaning drinking straws.

@boogiemum – I had the same reaction when I read that tip. Do you know how many straws I’ve tossed in the past twelve years? ;)

@Jenn – you are welcome!

Hey, I agree (could have kicked myself- why didn’t I think of that?!) Excellent solution – I am a grandmother and you can only imagine the number of straws that have been tossed! I will be passing this tip along. So don’t be surprise if a good looking silver haired grandmother approach you in the check out line with your cart full of thermos(es) :>) and advise on the up keep. Thanks for the advise!
