Parenting Tips for Time Management

This is the first year in about twelve that I have not had a little one home with me, or a preschool run to make.

Yup, my youngest started kindergarten.

And no, contrary to popular belief, I am not drowning my tears in my morning coffee.

Sure, I miss having the kids around - but the extra time thing is pure fiction.

Let’s see. Eleven days in school so far. And what did I do?

  • 3 separate days of PTA meetings.
  • 5 days of house guests
  • 1 far away doctor’s appointment

And that leaves me with two days of “free time” to clean, cook, run errands and get my fledgling internet business aspirations off the ground.

Not to mention all of those projects that I have left for “someday when the kids are all in school”.

So, if you were worried about me, don’t fret. I have more to do now than ever before.

Stay tuned for parenting tips for moms that have too much to do!

    cookie,
Now that all the kids are in school I am realizing how crazy it was when they were home all day. That pace and chaos became my norm. It is eye opening to see how much I can get done in a short amount of time when I have “alone” time every day.

I hear you! This is my second year of having no kids at home, and I find myself just as busy, except our family life is much more orderly and calm. It bugs me when people assume just because I have 5 1/2 hours a day “alone” that I don’t have anything to do (whatever). I think my whole family appreciates the benefits of me being at home for now.

    Karen,

I am so happy to hear from you! How are you?

You are right - I spend every minute of that time organizing our family life, volunteering at school or for PTA, running errands, and generally working to keep our household engine running smoothly. Once the kids get home I turn into the chauffeur and spend the time driving the kids all around town for their activities,

Dinner needs to be prepared or at the very least planned before 3 pm. Some people wonder why I am cooking dinner at 10 am - but there is no better time to do it.

But enough ranting, parenting is a full time job - and kids are not required to be around 24 hours a day to get the job done!
