BlogHer Book Club Reviewer

I have been participating in the BlogHer Book Club – and recently had a chance to review the book Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok.

As parents we constantly worry about making sure the kids are eating healthy foods, whether they are watching too much TV or playing to many video games, whether they are overscheduled, whether they are getting enough sleep …

The common concerns that many families share.

But there are just as many families struggling to survive. They are not worried about healthy food – they are worried about their next meal, the roof over their heads, and just making it from one day to the next.

This story is about a mother and a daughter – immigrants from China – that arrive in New York City, and their struggle for a better life. Hope and perseverance are strong motivators – read my review here.
