I just saw a commercial for Rice Krispie Treat Easter Eggs that was the cutest thing ever.
This is how you do it:
Just make a batch of homemade rice krispie treats using this recipe (follow the link) – but don’t press the mixture into a pan.
Then take some fairly large plastic Easter eggs – the hollow kind that split in half so you can fill them with candy.
Open up the eggs and press some of the warm rice krispie treat mixture into each half. Make an indentation in the center of each half – so that when you eventually put the halves together – the center will be hollow.
Remove each half from the plastic Easter egg “mold”.
Place a few jelly beans inside one of the halves and press both halves together to form a whole Rice Krispie Treat Easter egg.
The key to this recipe is that you have to work fast while the mixture is warm so that it can be molded easily.
If it cools down – you can place the mixture in a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for 10 seconds or so until it softens up a bit. Alternatively you can reheat the mixture in a pan on very low heat over the stove top but make sure that it doesn’t burn.
Let me know how they turn out!
