Parenting Meme: 7 Weird Things About this Mom

I have been tagged by Tamara Wilson in a 7 Weird Things About Me Meme. Given that I write about parenting tips, I have modified it into a 7 Weird Things About this Mom meme.

If Tamara had asked my children, I am sure that they could have come up with more than 7 weird things about their mom, but since she asked me, well, I’m not weird am I?

  1. I am a computer geek parent. I love gadgets and wish that I had more time to figure all of the technology out.
  2. Beating dead horses is my expertise. I will research the cr*p out stuff, and in the end go with my gut feeling - which is usually the best choice anyway.
  3. I love vegetable cream cheese on cinnamon raisin bagels. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
  4. Meeting new people is something I enjoy, but I need to work at being more outgoing. And remembering names - I try every gimmick in the book.
  5. I usually wear my pajamas to the school-bus stop. Gotta love those long stadium winter jackets.
  6. I can’t cook any meat that resembles its living counterpart.
  7. I really don’t like soda.

Now it’s my turn to do the tagging. Since I have committed to blog everyday in 2008, I will tag some of my new friends at Blog 365, and get to know them a little better.

Steph, Abby, Rebecca, Jen, Cassandra Rae, Cricket, and Sweetisu, consider yourselves “it”!

Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself
4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog

“Twelve Months” Meme

Savvy Suzy has tagged me in a “Twelve Months” meme.

The rules are as follows:

“Twelve Months”

1. Mention the person who tagged you and create a link back to them.
2. Copy-paste the traits for all the twelve months (for the complete list, see it here.)
3. Pick your month of birth.
4. Highlight the traits that apply to you.
5. Tag 12 people and let them know by visiting their blogs and leaving a comment for them.
6. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve done it!

I happen to be a December baby and these are supposed to be my traits. I have listed my own opinions after each one:

DECEMBER:

  • Logical. - Always.
  • Patriotic. - Again, always.
  •  Loyal and generous. - I never forget a kindness or a favor.
  • Active in games and interactions. - Actually, I am a bit introverted.
  • Loves to be loved. - Who doesn’t?
  • Impatient and hasty. - After a certain point.
  • Ambitious. - Always reaching for more.
  • Influential in organizations. - Should I be the one to answer this?
  • Sexy. - Again, should I be the one to answer this?
  • Fun to be with. -Depends on who you ask.
  • Loves to socialize. - Yes.
  • Loves praises. - Can’t get enough.
  • Loves attention. - Depends on what kind.
  • Hates restrictions. - I march to my own drum.
  • Honest and trustworthy. - Absolutely.
  • Not pretending. - I don’t play games.
  • Short tempered. - After a certain point.
  • Changing personality. - Never.
  • Not egotistic. - Agree.
  • Take high pride in oneself. - Of course.
  • Loves to joke. - How about loves a good joke.
  • Good sense of humor. - As long as the joke isn’t about me.

So that is a little bit about me.

According to this meme, I am supposed to tag twelve other people. But I am going to take the easy way out (I know everyone has way too much on their plate this holiday season) and invite anyone who wants to participate to write a post on their blog.

My Favorite Words

Isabella at Change Therapy has asked me what my favorite words are.

And right away, I can tell you that my favorite words aren’t actually words at all.

  1. Lasterday - my all time favorite! My four year old daughter continues to use this word to refer to what is commonly known as “yesterday”. Do I correct her? Absolutely not! She can call it Lasterday as long as she wants and the day she says “yesterday” will be a sad one, indeed!
  2. Colorayons - same as lasterday, except this one refers to crayons.
  3. Dora Ek the Splorer - Explorer is a hard word, and Ek the Splorer is so much more unique.
  4. Lellow - this one is from years past. My second son said this in place of yellow until my oldest son set him straight.
  5. Aye - my oldest son said this instead of “yes”. Other people had some difficulty figuring this one out but we knew exactly what it meant.

What do these words tell you about me?

You could determine that my kids are a big part of my life and I cherish their childhood that is passing too quickly (and sometimes not fast enough). My favorite words don’t show you my incredibly practical side but rather a sentimental side that most people don’t see.

Is being a mom the most important thing in my life?

Aye.

Isabella has turned this question into a meme - here are the rules:

  • what are your favourite words, and why?
  • what does that tell us about you?
  • write about it on your blog and invite other bloggers to write about it.
  • link back to this blog (change therapy at http://moritherapy.org) and i’ll
    • gather the words and contributors in a list and publish it
    • stumble your “favourite word” post (as long as they meet my stumble criteria, which shouldn’t be difficult with a post like this)

Anyone is free to participate. But I will tag a few that may be interested.

Isabella hasn’t posted a deadline on her meme but since she will be posting a list of all the contributers, I would imagine participating sooner is better than later.
